ABOUT THE GARDEN

Manjushree Tea Estate is one of the tea gardens of Jay Shree Tea & Industries Ltd. located in Upper Assam, near the historic town of Sonari in the Sibsagar (now Charaideo) district. The estate was developed by clearing forest land from the neighbouring Towkak Tea Garden and was planned as a well-laid-out plantation with motorable roads across the garden for efficient supervision and transport.

Spread over about 403.38 hectares, the estate comprises three main divisions—Lakamian, Manjushree, and Ladoigarh. It is surrounded by reserve forests rich in wildlife, while the Towkak River forms a natural boundary on the western side, giving the estate a scenic setting typical of Upper Assam tea regions.

Manjushree produces a range of Orthodox black teas, CTC teas, and highly tippy black teas known for their strong liquor and character. The garden has played a notable role in the reintroduction of Orthodox tea manufacturing in Upper Assam, and its teas have traditionally been popular with international buyers, particularly in Germany.

The estate is also recognised for its infrastructure and worker welfare initiatives. It maintains a 38-bed hospital for workers and local residents, which has received recognition as one of the best-maintained hospitals in the Charideo subdivision. The estate is well connected by road, rail, and air, with Bhojo railway station about 12 km away and airports at Jorhat and Dibrugarh nearby

tasting note

Dry leaf: The Manjushree Silver Needles is less a tea and more an exercise in elegance. To look at the dry leaf is to see a collection of long, velvety silver tips, each one preserved with a precision that speaks to its careful origin. These are the untouched "buds" of the tea plant, shimmering with a velvety finish that promises a delicate experience.

The Infusion: A transformation in green upon meeting the water, the silver tips transition into a striking olive green. The needles retain a distinct sheen on their surface, as if polished by the brewing process itself. As the steam rises, it carries a rare aromatic profile: the comforting scent of freshly baked tender beans, softened by a whisper of subtle honey sweetness - a complexity seldom found in such pristine white teas.

The Liquor:
The liquor pours a luminous lime yellow greenish, possessing a clarity that mirrors its refined nature. On the palate, the tea reveals its true character-a vibrant, fruity core reminiscent of the crisp, nostalgic sweetness of Indian jujube. This is layered with the sophisticated, tart-sweet notes of golden berries.

The Mouthfeel & Finish
The experience is remarkably tactile. It offers a lush mouthfeel, mimicking the sensation of biting into a piece of fresh, ripe fruit. This fruitiness does not fade quickly; instead, it leaves a lingering, elegant note that coats the palate long after the final sip.
