Darjeeling Risheehat Moonshine First Flush 2026 – Rare Organic Spring Harvest

SKU: R-EX28-Moonshine-26

Risheehat Ex 28 Moonshine is a finely crafted AV2 clonal tea, plucked on 18 March 2026 and manufactured on 19 March 2026, with a careful natural withering of 58–60% over 10–12 hours, followed by a very short oxidation of 5 to 10 minutes to preserve its bright and delicate character. Hand sorted and gently dried at 240°F, this tea presents a bright leaf with an elegant show of tips. The cup yields a light yellow liquor with a smooth clonal expression, while the infused leaf appears bright green, releasing a distinctly fruity AV2 flavour. Crafted under the supervision of Tea Master Rajiv Kumar, this Moonshine offering reflects the refined freshness and aromatic grace typical of an early-season Risheehat AV2 tea.

ABOUT THE GARDEN

Risheehat Tea Estate is located in one of the most beautiful valleys, famous for growing the best organic teas. The steep land topography, rich and fertile soil, temperature, and rainfall are most conducive for growing the best of organic Darjeeling teas. Just 14 kms east of the Darjeeling main city area, Risheehat garden faces the main Darjeeling town and the beautiful Kanchenjunga peak towards the north of the estate. Risheehat literally means “Home of Holy Saints”. The Garden was established by British planters in the mid 19th century and was known as Tsering Bagan because of the local population of the Tsering tribe. Acquired by Jayshree Tea management in 1955, the garden is divided into two major divisions – Risheehat main division and Liza Hill Division. The estate today produces more than 180 tons per year of certified bio-organic teas and has a healthy zero % vacancy on its estate. The estate has Fair Trade certification, ISO 9001:2015 awarded by TUV NORD, and also HACCP, not to mention organic certificates for NPOP, NOP, and JAS by IMO.

tasting note

Leaf-Well-crafted, wiry and bright with a generous presence of silvery tips. The leaf shows excellent uniformity, reflecting fine plucking and careful hand sorting. The appearance is lively and indicative of a high-grade AV2 clonal make.

Liquor-A clear, light yellow cup with a soft brilliance. The palate is smooth and refined, showcasing classic AV2 clonal character—delicate yet expressive. Subtle fruity sweetness emerges upfront, followed by a gentle floral nuance, with no harshness or astringency. The finish is clean, rounded, and lingering.

Infusion-Bright green and evenly opened leaves, releasing a fresh and fragrant aroma. The infusion carries pronounced fruity notes—reminiscent of ripe orchard fruits—with a mild floral lift. The overall expression is clean, vibrant, and true to its clonal origin.
